V. Nazim Burke

V. Nazim Burke is a Grenadian Attorney-at-Law, economist, consultant, and former university lecturer and politician, with over 35 years of professional experience across law, economics, public policy, and international development. He served as Grenada’s Minister of Finance, Planning, Economy, Energy and Cooperatives from 2008 to 2013, and as Minister of Foreign Trade from 2008 to 2009. Mr. Burke was a member of Grenada’s Parliament for fifteen years, serving in both the Upper and Lower Houses between 2003 and 2018.

His career spans Grenada and Canada, with extensive knowledge of the OECS, CARICOM, and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). He brings deep expertise in public finance management, international trade, development finance, energy, organizational leadership, and policy development. An experienced negotiator, public speaker, and technical writer, he is fluent in English with a working knowledge of Spanish. In recent years, he has focused keenly on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In October 2023, he was appointed by the Government of Grenada to lead a Cabinet-established Technical Working Group assessing the country’s hydrocarbon potential and developing a strategy for its sustainable development, if commercially viable.
