Hugo Canella is Account Manager for Brazil, Panama, Guyana and Suriname at Lloyd’s Register, leading commercial development across offshore and maritime markets in one of the world’s fastest-growing energy frontiers. His work focuses on strategic client engagement, classification and advisory services, supporting complex projects linked to offshore oil and gas, fleet modernization, digitalization and energy transition.

Hugo holds a Master of Science in Maritime Studies from the Brazilian Naval War College (Escola de Guerra Naval), where his research examines how energy transition, digitalization and artificial intelligence are reshaping maritime systems and offshore operations, influencing competitiveness, regulation and long-term investment decisions. He also holds an International Executive MBA in Global Business Management from Ibmec, with international immersion at the Quinlan School of Business, Loyola University Chicago.

Originally trained as a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Hugo built his career through technical, operational and commercial roles, spanning ship construction, offshore assets and regulatory compliance. This multidisciplinary background enables him to connect engineering, strategy and market dynamics, positioning him at the intersection of technology, policy and investment in the global energy and maritime sectors.
